The Cervical Spine
Axioms of Cervical
Spine Assessment
1.
Cervical spine syndromes are extremely common
and are probably the fourth most common cause of pain.
2.
At any given time, 9% of men and 12% of women
have neck pain with or without arm and hand pain, and 35% of the population can
remember having had neck pain at some time.
3.
The cervical spine is the origin of a large
proportion of shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist disorders.
4.
Most people who develop pain in the neck do not
seek medical attention because they regard such pain as a part of life, so they
simply wait for it to disappear.
